“In addition to improving mobile gaming performance, upgrading users’ photography experiences is another big focus for us,” said Zonglin Li, General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communication business unit. “Building on Helio’s legacy of powering smartphones with advanced camera features, the Helio P65 takes this a step further with an enhanced hardware accelerator, providing even more reliable performance and an incredible photography experience for consumers. The launch of MediaTek’s Helio P65 chipset will undoubtedly become a new driver for mid-market smartphone innovation.”

Helio P65 uses an octa-core architecture integrating two Arm Cortex-A75 CPUs up to 2GHz and six Cortex-A55 processors running at 1.7GHz into a large shared L3 cache cluster for more powerful performance. Leveraging MediaTek’s heterogeneous computing technology, CorePilot, the chipset supports features like smart scheduling, smart temperature management and user behavior analytics, providing increased performance reliability and consistency, taking users’ gaming experiences to a new level.

Another industry-leading feature of the Helio P65 is its built-in voice-activated command function, optimized for the chipset’s compact size and designed to prolong battery life. MediaTek has also separated the audio channel for voice commands from that used for media and games, providing better sound quality for each respective channel.

The MediaTek Helio P65 can support high resolution dual cameras that consist of up to 16MP+16MP sensors and provides high adaptability for wide-angle shots and long shots by using clear image zoom technology. In addition to supporting multiple cameras in cutting-edge smartphones, MediaTek’s Helio P65 also supports popular mobile devices with 48MP smartphone cameras (4-cell) for better image quality. In addition, the new secure ISP design with facial recognition brings a higher level of security to devices.

Leveraging the advanced photography technology of the MediaTek Helio series, the Helio P65 is equipped with a variety of hardware accelerators, including a depth of field engine for professional Bokeh effects, electronic image stabilization (EIS) for capturing fast motion at up to 240 fps or panorama photography without the Jello effect, and a camera control unit (CCU) for instant auto exposure (Instant AE) under circumstances where lighting conditions suddenly change, quickly adjusting the camera’s focus.

The Helio P65 features an improved Inertial Navigation System (INS) to allow users to get more accurate positioning information even when the user is moving in an indoor environment, underground or through a tunnel. Capable of understanding directions, the Helio P65 can share precise directions no matter where it is placed. It also supports Dual 4G VoLTE, enabling high quality of voice and video calls, a faster connection, more reliable coverage and lower power consumption. In addition, the processor offers 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity, while the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi coexistence streamlines product design and ensures reliable performance for users.

Compared with its predecessor, Helio P65 provides double the AI performance and AI processing for AI camera tasks including Google Lens, smart galleries, scene recognition, background segmentation, background removal and portrait photography that is 30 percent faster.

The MediaTek Helio P65 is in mass production now, and is expected to be available in consumer devices in July this year.
