Holtek announced the release of its new 32-bit Pulse Oximeter MCU, the HT32F59045. The device uses an Arm® Cortex®-M0+...

To implement accurate control of load power, the device includes an integrated high resolution complementary output PWM generator which has up to 500kHz PWM output frequency with 8-bit resolution making it suitable for DC/DC synchronous rectification step-up or step-down applications.

It also includes two 80mA PWM outputs for direct driving power MOS transistors to improve the switching efficiency as well as prolonging the service time. In addition, there are 4-level A/D converter reference voltages, which are provided to prevent the A/D measurement from being influenced by the external voltage.

Protection features are provided in the way of an over current protection function and an over voltage protection function as well as a low voltage reset function for product safety and protection.

Additionally, the over current protection function includes a programmable gain amplifier with a gain of up to 51, allowing lower sense resistors to be used and thus providing higher efficiencies and longer operating time. If the system voltage falls below the LVR setup value the LVR will automatically reset the device to avoid any unstable operation.

To sum up, when compared with traditional solutions, the HT45F3420 reduces the need for external control components resulting in smaller PCB areas and lower production costs. The device is supplied in 8-pin SOP and 10-pin MSOP package types. In meeting with industrial specifications and with its high noise immunity, the device is well suited for a range of battery power control applications.
