Compared with the HT66F0175 predecessor device, the HT66F0176 has an additional UART function. The device also includes an accurate internal high frequency RC oscillator. This internal high frequency oscillator has three selectable fixed frequencies of 8MHz, 12MHz and 16MHz with a tolerance of ±1% at a fixed temperature and voltage or ±3% over the full temperature and voltage range.

The 12-bit A/D converter contains an accurate internal reference voltage, which makes it suitable for battery-powered application. The internal LED/LCD drivers support 4 segments with current output control which are able to drive LED/LCD displays directly without requiring additional external current-limiting resistors or transistors. In requiring fewer external components resulting in major cost reductions the devices will find excellent use in products such as household appliances which require an LED/LCD display.

With regard to device packaging, the HT66F0176 is supplied in 16 and 20-pin NSOP and 24-pin SOP/SSOP small package types.
