Holtek announced the release of its new 32-bit Pulse Oximeter MCU, the HT32F59045. The device uses an Arm® Cortex®-M0+...

This allows for much easier implementation of the necessary frequency tracking and adjustment functions and water depletion detection control. For the water depletion protection and detection functions, these devices permit savings with regard to the usual magnetic or dry reeds.

With regards to memory, the HT45F3820/3830 devices have a Flash Program Memory capacity of 1K/2K×16 bits, an SRAM Data Memory capacity of 64/128 bytes and an EEPROM Data Memory capacity of 32/64 bytes.

Other features include an integrated high accuracy 12MHz RC Oscillator and multiple Timer Modules which have comprehensive features in offering five different operating modes. These operating modes are Timer/Event Counter, Input Capture, Compare Match Output, Single Pulse Output and PWM Output, which can implement LED intensity/colour adjustment functions.

Traditional humidifier applications have usually required additional transistors to drive an external power MOS transistor, however these new Holtek devices include a powerful MOS drive capability which can directly drive the external power transistor. In addition, they use a new humidifier application design, which has higher operation efficiency and no heat dispersion problems, thus removing the need for MOS transistor heat sinking.

These features extensively reduce the need for peripheral components, resulting not only in reduced component costs but also reduced PCB areas. With regard to packaging, the HT45F3820 is supplied in an 8-pin/10-pin SOP package type while the HT45F3830 is supplied in 16-pin NSOP and 20-pin/24-pin SOP package types.

Holtek also supplies a full suite of excellent hardware and software development tools. These include the HT-IDE3000 development software as well as a hardware In-Circuit-Emulator, which when used together will provide a full range of debug functions such as trace analysis etc.

With regard to device programming the Holtek supplied e-WriterPro programmer is also capable of implementing full In-Circuit Programming to allow for fast program updates and product development.

Holtek also supplies water depletion and frequency tracking/adjustment application software packages and a range of application notes to ensure developers have their designs debugged and running in the shortest time possible.
