Holtek announced the release of its new Power Bank ASSP Flash MCUs, the HT45F5N and HT45FH5N. As well as preserving all the advantages of their previous generation products, such as hardware over-current, over-voltage and under voltage protection functions, these new devices also include a ±1% reference voltage source, a function which will result in a reduced number of peripheral components and reduced PCB areas.

The devices are supplied in QFN package types, which are suitable for ultra-light and low profile power bank products. Additionally, the device series can support three USB interface types, namely Type A, Micro-B and Type C USB interfaces.

Both the HT45F5N/FH5N devices include 2 groups of complementary PWM outputs to implement independent two-channel buck/boost management structures. Their internal PWM output function supports Type C input/output detection to implement a Type C interface bidirectional charge/discharge function.

In addition, the PWM frequency has been increased to 500kHz with an 8-bit duty resolution. This allows for major reductions of the necessary external power inductors and capacitors, resulting in reduced output ripple. The devices also support a PWM duty automatic adjustment function, whose dynamic response time is independent of software restrictions.

The HT45FH5N provides an additional LDO output and two high voltage MOS drivers together with improved PWM performance. It also includes a quick charge recognition function, which supports all manufacturers quick charge specifications.

This can implement both buck and boost structures with a voltage range of 5V~12V in 0.2V increments. The HT45F5N is supplied in a 32-pin QFN package type and the HT45FH5N is supplied in a 46-pin QFN package type. Holtek provides a complete set of source codes and OCDS EV devices HT45V5N/VH5N to assist users to achieve more rapid and efficient product development.
