Holtek announces the release of an addition to its small package Flash MCU range with the new HT68F0012. As an extension product of the HT68F001, which has a 32kHz system frequency, this new device can operate with a higher system frequency of 512kHz. This enhanced feature makes the device suitable for product applications with higher operating frequency requirements such as data communication product applications which also require an accurate timing source and simple control.

Both the HT68F001 and HT68F0012 devices offer the features of low cost, a low operating voltage of down to 1.8V, low power consumption and provide a high accuracy timer with a tolerance of ±1%. These multiple features combine to make the devices suitable for use in simple product control applications but which require an accurate timing source. Possible application areas could be for battery powered timer applications, such as water filter elements, electric toothbrushes, LED lamps, electric torches, alarm clocks, auto fish feeders, aromatherapy machines, toys and other consumer products, or for home appliance timer applications, such as toasters, chargers, electric fans, cooker hotplates etc. These devices also could be used for industrial control applications such as delay switches, security detection, accessory certification or other types of On/Off timing control.

The HT68F0012 has an operating voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V, a Flash program memory capacity of 0.5Kx12, a RAM Data memory capacity of 16x8, an 8-bit Timer and Time Base functions. The internal 512kHz IRC high-accuracy oscillator circuit can be used as the MCU system clock allowing applications run under an accurate timing, low voltage and low current environment. The device is supplied in an 8-pin SOP package type.
