Taiwan's 4G LTE Testing Market Worth at NT$1 Billion in 2014

TAIPEI, Taiwan — What a huge market! The output value of testing and certification services for 4G LTE-enabled mobile devices in Taiwan will reach an estimated NT$1 billion (US$33 million) this year, a global certification company said Tuesday.

Daniel Lee, Vice President of the mobile testing services division at Bureau Veritas Group's Taiwan branch, forecast that some 100 LTE smartphones and tablets will be tested this year for regulatory approval in Taiwan, and the testing fees for each device will average NT$10 million, bringing the total to NT$1 billion this year based on an earlier report.
According to the NCC, Taiwan's communications regulator, the eight LTE phones that have already been certified in the country are products of HTC Corp. and Asustek Computer Inc. of Taiwan, and Sony Mobile Communications of Japan.
“In Taiwan, we have been operating within this hi-tech industry for more than 25 years, delivering an integrated, comprehensive 'one-stop' testing and certification solution,” said Tarik Mahammed, Vice President of the group's consumer products services in Asia.
