TAIPEI, Taiwan — At the COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2014, market trend is easily to discover. Walking down the hall, one notable trend is that two or more in one laptop are popular than ever, ASUS, Acer, and Dell all seized the chance to unveil their new convertible laptops.

The fact is that the price of these convertible laptops has gone down. It is believed that the market size of those convertible laptops is going to reach 1.5 million units by Q2 of this year, and to reach 5 million units by Q4. However, the major challenge of which is that the appearnce of folding 360 degrees laptops, as that of YOGA from Lenovo.

Because of Microsoft's low cost laptop solutions and new products to come, the laptop shipment is expected to increase in May and June. The growth driver is transformer laptop.

ASUS rolled out the 10.1-inch Transformer Book T100, and sold more than 0.5 million units. However, ASUS used to unveil a Android system two in one convertible laptop, but ended up in poor sales. At COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2014, ASUS again released the 12.5-inch Transformer Book T300 Chi along with a five in one new laptop, Transformer Book V.

Acer released Aspire Switch, a two in one convertible laptop in Q2 and hoping to surpass ASUS T100 to become the new leading brand. As there are many convertible laptops in the market, the price of a new product will be lower than NT$20,000.

Microsoft lately rolled out the 12-inch Surface Pro 3, a Tablet that can be connected with a light keyboard, which can be viewed as a convertible laptop.

According to Lenovo, YOGA sold 2 million units in 2013.
