200 Companies Join the Third Party Applications Development of Pepper

TAIPEI, Taiwan — According to Nikkei, there are about 200 companies participate the third party applications development of Pepper. One of which is the human resource company Recruit Holdings from Japan. Needed technical parameters will be announced by SoftBank Group. Recruit Holdings and all the other companies have been developing inquiry and reception applications software in an attempt to enlarge the applying scope of the humanoid robot.

SoftBank Group unveiled the home version of Pepper in June, 2015 as well as the commercial version ones in this month. Before the commercial version announced, most of the applications software was an independent development of the company. However, it will make best use of other companies’s creativity and technologies for expansion of its scope of recognition as a multi-purpose robot.

To summarize, even the karaoke company Xing Inc. and IT startups have joined the applications development. SoftBank Group will open the technical parameters of Pepper’s head and hand movement, voice recognition, etc, to the public. In other words, more and more Pepper applications can be expected in the near future.

Hon Hai Precision Industry, the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer makes Pepper, SoftBank Group’s humanoid robot, at its Yantai plant in Shandong, China. Therefore, with Pepper, Hon Hai, also known as Foxconn, has become the first company in the world to mass-produce a humanoid robot.

Meanwhile, Advantech has placed the Pepper as their doorman in its Advantech Linkou Campus. Specifically, the Pepper speaks Chinese very fluently, and it will shake hands and look people at the eyes to tell people Chaney Ho is President of Advantech that draws a lot of attentions in the campus.
