E Ink announced new developments of the highest resolution electronic paper display from a collaboration with its strategic alliance partner, Japan Display Inc. (JDI). This new electronic paper backplane achieves 400ppi and 600ppi of pixel density, and is expected to lead to significant technological breakthroughs that will enable customers to continue implementing E Ink’s e-paper technology in eReaders, smartphones and tablets, as well as many new product applications across the IoT landscape.
“Our strong partnership with E Ink allows us to strategically broaden our business into new markets beyond LCDs,” said Kazuhiro Ogawa, vice president at JDI. “E Ink’s low-power, highly-readable e-paper technology presents an exciting opportunity for JDI to expand the development of e-paper displays with built-in LTPS backplanes, opening the doors to new opportunities not only for both companies, but more importantly for our innovative customers.”
For the first time, E Ink and JDI’s ePaper modules with electronic ink on LTPS backplane will be shown at SID Display Week at JDI’s booth, #917.
