The rugged and compact design of the RICH-33B0-8171 offers low power consumption, making it the perfect solution for applications in kiosk, POS, digital signage, medical, and the harsh environments of factory automation.

The new rugged RICH-33B0-8171 is equipped with the Portwell WADE-8171 Mini-ITX board. Based on the Intel Pentium and Celeron processor N3000 product family with a 6W thermal design power (TDP), this board features Intel HD Graphics architecture which supports up to 3 displays with a maximum resolution of 4K and twice the performance of the previous generation.

The compact RICH-33B0-8171 embedded system also features DDR3L SO-DIMM up to 8GB supporting 1333/1600 MT/s; one HDMI on the rear I/O with resolution up to 3840 x 2160; one legacy VGA interface support; two COM ports for RS-232/422/485 selected by jumper; and multiple storage interfaces with 2.5" HDD/SSD, as well as mSATA.

In addition, the Portwell RICH-33B0-8171 is designed especially for IoT applications. The tiny and exquisite box (200mm x 200mm x 45mm) integrates the Mini-PCIe interface to provide wireless connectivity options, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G/4G/GPS, and NFC functionalities.

"It serves as an ideal solution as an IoT gateway," explains Ian Wang, Portwell's product manager.

"Thanks to the Intel Pentium and Celeron processor N3000 series' advancements, Portwell's RICH-33B0-8171 embedded system delivers up to quad-core processing power and high graphics capabilities while on a compact and fan-less platform," says Wang.

Moreover, the rugged and compact RICH-33B0-8171 supports temperature ranging from 0ºC to 60ºC for harsh environment operations, while its fan-less design makes silent operation, reliability, low maintenance, and cost reductions possible.

"With its greater processing power, Intel HD Graphics, and flexible support for I/O interfaces, the RICH-33B0-8171 is indeed an ideal solution to fulfill the requirements of rich I/O and the demand for 4K-2K resolution," Wang confirms.
