“We are striving to deliver advanced features that enhance the tablet and notebook user experience,” explains Erez Naory, senior marketing director of client products at Nuvoton.

“Movea brings the motion processing expertise we need to provide highly accurate, innovative functions optimized for tablets and notebooks running Windows 8.1 or Android. Our sensor hub architecture and embedded controller combined with Movea’s SmartMotion processing technology enable system manufacturers to develop a wide array of intelligent applications to their customers while offloading the main processor, thus dramatically reducing system power consumption.”

Movea’s sensor-hub solution offers a comprehensive set of software, firmware and tools to enable an advanced motion-based user experience. Gathering data from an accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer, Movea’s firmware delivers 3D orientation, tilt-compensated eCompass and continuous auto calibration to Nuvoton’s solution for Windows 8.1 and Android platforms.

Additionally, the NPCF204U and NPCF28Bx family of devices include a hardware sensor fusion accelerator (SFA) optimized for the sensor fusion algorithm, facilitating the integration of Movea’s SmartMotion embedded software for an ultra-efficient and low power solution. Moreover, these new families of devices support various third-party sensors allowing greater flexibility in sensor selection.

“To respond to consumers’ increasing appetite for more natural and intuitive user interfaces, Nuvoton and Movea are forging a path to smarter, context aware devices, delivering new high performance and low power functionalities through these new products,” said Wahid Issa, vice president of marketing at Movea.

“We’re excited to partner with Nuvoton to lay the groundwork for enhanced applications that leverage motion sensing capabilities and deliver an easier way for consumers to interact with their devices.”

Nuvoton’s strong presence and experience in the PC market together with Movea’s advanced algorithms result in a cost-effective, power optimized solution for tablets and notebooks. The NPCF204U stand-alone family and the NPCF28Bx family of integrated embedded controller and sensor hub are now available to select customers.
