TAIPEI, TAIWAN — Intel will release a 8-inch Android tablet that is powered by Bay Trail processor by the end of the fouth quarter this year, and the price tag is NT$ 2,970 (US$99) according to suppliers. The notebook uses Intel’s Celeron N2805 and N2806 processors, while the tablet is based on its 1.2-GHz Z2520 Clover Trail+ Atom platform. The 10-inch Android tablet is entitled with ECS TR10CD1 and is a ODM of ECS.
The Intel Celeron N2805, N2806 are a power efficient dual-core SoC for entry-level notebooks. N2805 is clocked at up to 1.46 GHz, while N2806 is clocked at up to 1.6 GHz. Both are part of the Bay Trail-M platform, the specially optimized 22 nanometer low-power process with tri-gate transistors, performance and energy efficiency have been significantly improved compared to previous Intel Atom CPUs based on statistics.
And the Intel Atom Z2520 has an average performing CPU with a maximum clock speed of 1.2 GHz. It has 2 cores, resulting in good multi-tasking when compared to a single core processor.
The education tablet still powered by Clover Trail instead of the latest tablet processor Bay Trial. However, it is said that Intel's Bay Trail is going to be shipped considerably.
The Intel's processor Z3740 and Z3770 will be shipped in the first quarter, mainly supported Win8 and Android dual system, while Z3735 in the second quarter and aimed at the low-end tablet market.
Moreover, Wistron also saw the school market and established a section of Technology Service Provider, aimed to cloud computing education, E-classroom, and has made a progress in education market that has been used by three schools from in Malaysia.
