LG Sues Taiwan Panel Makers Monopolistic Pricing

Taipei , Taiwan - LG Electronics on Monday said it has sued four Taiwan panel makers last month in Seoul, included AUOptronics, , Innolux , CPT and HannStar for monopolizing the price, and apply for $USD850,000 compensation.

LG Electronics spokesman Juah Kim said four Taiwanese panel makers alleged monopoly on LCD TV panel prices, and therefore raised this litigation.
Before this lawsuit, Korea Fair Trade Commission has fined South Korea, Taiwan and Japan panel makers for involving manipulating panel prices in Korea. The full amount of penalty is $USD1.8 billion, Samsung Electronics Taiwan and Japan branch had fined about 0.85 billion, the highest fine in this case, LG display was about $USD 0.577billion, AUO about $USD 0.25billion.
Currently Innolux and AUO said has not yet received the lawsuit inform from court, will not comment.
Panel monopoly lawsuit after another, most recently a U.S. panel monopoly case, there are eight companies were fined, including LG Display, CPT, Innolux and Sharp, fines totaling more than $USD890 million, a senior executives of AUO jailed.
