Taiwan government, TSMC and MediaTek to Joint a Startup

TAIPEI , Taiwan - Taiwan National Science Council(NSC) announced on Wednesday will hand with TSMC, MediaTek , Ruentex Group and ITRI to set up a startup company- " Small Apple Orchard Company" , is expected to invest NT$10 billion within three years , to develop small-volume production of a wide range of different items.

Small apple orchard Company is a project of NSC’s Little Apple Orchard Nursery Plan, will joint by Chunghwa Telecom, TSMC, MediaTek and Ruentex Group and ITRI, invest NT$ 1 billion in 2-3 years, one third of investment funds will by NSC, is expected founded in this year.

Taiwan's Executive Yuan Jiang Yi Hua said that although the startups to be successful is not easy, but this type of company better meet users' needs, and also to make more innovative applications, it is a opportunity for Taiwan's technology industry transformation.

NSC chairman Zhu Keiichi said that there were a lot of content in iPhone, iPad, e-books and other mobile, but did not meet all the needs of consumers, the price was expensive too. The goal of Small Apple Project is to produce more specific features of the product.

"Like health devices, may for after-surgery tracking, blood pressure and glucose measurement; logistics devices needs logistics management; smart car devices for unmanned vehicles. These devices have a common feature that is small-volume large-variety production. " He said.

Keiichi Zhu also stressed that Small Apple Orchard Company funded by enterprises , it must have to make money, but also create additional effects , and carries out more design and manufacturing company.

ITRI President Xu Jue China will be the first CEO of Small Apple Orchard Company , Xu said will develop a wearable devices with a health care function at first.
