Chunghwa Telecom Invested $ 140 Million to Increase Bandwidth

Taipei, Taiwan - According to Taiwan media, Taiwan's largest telecom company, Chunghwa Telecom will invest US$ 140 million to increase bandwidth of 1.5 times, and enhanced external submarine cable bandwidth in the year, data center and cloud business. Submarine cable will cooperate with foreign Telecoms.
Chunghwa Telecom said that the bandwidth demand of Taiwan-to-Europe and Taiwan-to-U.S will double in the next three years. Chunghwa Telecom is beginning to invest in the construction of new submarine cable, work with Singapore Telecom, Korea Telecom and other well-known carriers to build submarine cable in East Asia, is expected to be completed next year, the total investment is estimated $ 140 million.
Chunghwa Telecom International Branch Manager Leng Tai-Fen said that Chunghwa Telecom will be gradually completed submarine cables in the next three years, including the East Asia submarine cable (APG) in first half of next year, the 5th European submarine (SMW5) the second quarter of the year, and the new cross-Pacific submarine cable (NCP) is expected to be completed in 2016.
