TAIPEI, Taiwan — Only 6 seconds to turn on handset, Luo Xi-wu, a Vice Professor at National Chung Cheng University invented the fast turning on/off handset technology. It's not only boost the performance of handset, but also save more power consumption, and it has taken out a patent from Korea and Taiwan.
Luo Xi-wu, a Vice Professor of Computer Science and Information Engineering department at CCU, said that he discovered the power saving code in operating system could be written more efficiently so that he devoted himself in researching it. Furthermore, he pointed out that many people tend to not turn off their 3C products with the view that it's too slowly to turn off, standby mode consumes more power than turning it off.
Therefore, Luo Xi-wu rewritten the code and used the random-access feature of flash memory to develop the fast turn on/off technology. General speaking, the average time to turn on smartphone is around 40 seconds, however, the fast turn on/off technology only costs 6 seconds to turn it on and 10 second to turn it off.
The fast turn on/off technology from Luo Xi-wu has taken out a patent from Korea and Taiwan, and it has done three technology transfer cases with the chipset and software developers, according to Luo.
Luo Xi-wu commented on in these years, as the rising of smartphone, smart TV, or smart appliances, due to the software system is far more complicated than before that resulted in slow turning on/off. “The fast turn on/off technology can not only be used in Android handsets, network equipment, also can be used in CHT MOD, smart car, etc.”
