ZenFone 2 Won't Support Wireless Charging

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Wireless charging will be one of the next big things since the tech giant Intel supported and promoted it a lot, which aims to roll out the wireless charging NB in the third or fourth quarter in 2015. However, Taiwanese firms are lukewarm toward it, according to ASUS, wireless charging won't become the mainstream in 2015 so that the ZenFone 2 will still feature the wire, but fast charging.

Intel has joined the Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP) that is established by Samsung and Qualcomm, and it is actively in promoting the applications of wireless charging. A4WP takes Rezence as their promoting sign, which means that Rezence devices can be charged by A4WP charging devices. The alliance aims at a wire-free and universal charging experience for everyone.

A4WP President Kamil Grajski said that the next-generation wireless charging technologies realize that putting the charging device under the table, and the table can charge many devices at the same time. The alliance also teamed up with many restaurants and cafes for providing the wirless charging desk.

A4WP forecast that the wireless charging handset and tablet will be launched in the first and second quarter in 2015, then the wireless charging NB from entry-level to high-end ones will be released in the third or fourth quarter in 2015. Taiwanese firms like Foxconn, ASUS, and Acer are members of A4WP.

Lenovo is highly interested in developing the wireless charging products, Good Way is the major ODM of Lenovo's port replicator. Good Way is going to unveil the wireless port replicator in the second quarter of 2015, aiming for Lenovo's standard equipment.
