Taiwan’s population is ageing rapidly. It is estimated that after the year 2015, the Taiwanese population will begin to show negative growth and rapidly become an elderly society.

In order to cope with care problems that will arise due to the imminent ageing of society, Unitech has joined forces with medical institutions and cooperative partners in Taiwan, to co-host a Smart Care Summit this Thursday where a diverse smart care system was exhibited.

Unitech CEO Chen Peter Chen said, “Saving energy and caring for the elderly will be the main points of focus for Unitech’s development in 2015.”

Peter Chen pointed out that Unitech expects to establish five to six Proof of Service (PoS) centers at hospitals in Taiwan in 2015. As for overseas markets, in 2015 Unitech plans to expand its smart care solutions in America and in Southeast Asia.

Steve Lin, ADC Product Marketing Division Director of Unitech, stated that elderly care is currently a global problem. Not only Taiwan, but also Japan is facing similar problems.

Steve also stated that in Taiwan Unitech will first cooperate with hospitals which already have call centers and establish Proof Of Concept (PoC) centers and then gradually set up more PoS centers.

As for overseas regions, Unitech will also utilize the same strategy and cooperate with local providers to gradually establish PoS centers in order to satisfy smart care demands overseas.
