ASUS VivoWatch said to be Unveiled at MWC

TAIPEI, Taiwan — It is widely circulated that ASUS is going to unveil its latest smartwatch VivoWatch at Mobile World Congress (MWC) on March 2, but ASUS withhold comment on it. The company's CEO Jerry Shen revealed that the next-generation smartwatch will be released after the second quarter of this year, in favor of better performance and less power consumption.

Jerry Shen said that there will be three wearables from ASUS to be launched into the market, one of which is going to be a smartband.

Source said that VivoWatch will be running the newest Microsoft Health platform. According to Microsoft, the platform includes a cloud service for consumers and the industry to store and combine health and fitness data to create powerful insights. Microsoft Health will be available for consumers from the new Microsoft Health app which already launched on Android, iOS, and Windows Phone.

the VivoWatch made an appearance in the Bluetooth SIG database. The brief description of the device states that it’s a health and fitness-focused smartwatch that can detect heart rate and sleep data. The VivoWatch will connect to users’ smartphones via Bluetooth LE, the posting states. Beyond those sparse details, nothing else about the VivoWatch is revealed.

Jerry Shen stated that apart from ZenWatch, there are still two more wearable devices hitting the market in 2015.
