Currently, MediaTek product lines, for products such as cellphones, tablet computers, televisions, and Netcom all use “MTxxxx” as their product codes. In the front ,MT is an abbreviation of the company’s English name, “MediaTek;” whereas, in the back four more digits are arranged for easy product management.

Analysts have pointed out that MediaTek’s naming scheme is first used on high order cellphone chips to give them a feeling of “honor,” and the first products that will use the name “helio” might be the highest order 64-bit 4G cellphone chips, “MT6975,” which were not mass-produced until last year.

In addition, MediaTek on the same day announced the launch of the newest ARM A72 framework tablet computer processing chip, which is expected to go into mass production in the second quarter.
