CHT Aims to Have 4.2 Million 4G Subscribers

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Chunghwa Telecom Co. (CHT), held its annual general meeting on June 26. The meeting was hosted by Chairman Tsai Lih-shyng. The shareholders in attendance represented 5,816,649,820 shares, or 74.98 percent of total outstanding shares. The company has upward adjusted the target number of its 4G mobile communication subscribers in the Taiwan market for the end of 2015 from four million to 4.2 million.

The Company’s report on business operations, financial statements and the proposal for 2014 earnings distribution were ratified by shareholders. In addition, the proposal to amend the “Articles of Incorporation” was passed at the meeting.
The 2014 profit allocation proposal was passed in the meeting. Board directors will receive remuneration that totals NT$39,222,554 in cash, and employees will be distributed cash bonuses NT$1,510,068,340. The dividend per common share is NT$4.8564 in cash.
Moreover, CHT will stop offering unlimited 4G data plans by the end of June, and it will complete a 3-year 4G network establishment plan two years ahead of schedule. As a result, CHT will have established 12,000 4G base stations to cover 99 percent of Taiwan’s population by year-end 2015.
