MediaTek Denies Acquisition of Nvidia

TAIPEI, Taiwan — It is widely circulated that MediaTek is considering purchasing Nvidia in a bid to get benefit from automobile market, which has become a story on July 1 on the Economic Daily News. However, MediaTek’s Spokesperson David Ku denied the news later on July 1, clarifying that the newspaper gave an incorrect account.

However, a wave of mergers and acquisitions is reshaping Silicon Valley’s semiconductor industry as companies join forces to shoulder the soaring technology costs required to stay competitive. For example, Singapore-based Avago Technologies, which bought Silicon Valley’s LSI a year ago, announced on the end of this May that it acquired Broadcom.
It’s speculated that MediaTek hoped to acquire Nvidia in an attempt to become more superior in automobile market. And it has been reported on July 1 on the Economic Daily News.
As a result, David Ku, Spokesperson of MediaTek, denied the news later on July 1 on Market Observation Post System (MOPS), clarifying that the newspaper gave an incorrect account.
