Foxconn Plans India Hubs by 2020

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., the world’s largest contract electronics maker, is planning to set up 10 to 12 production hubs in India by 2020, according to a report by Indian technology Web site NDTV Gadgets. India, has no doubt become the next China in ICT industry.

According to the report, in an interview with the Web site dated on July 10, Hon Hai Chairperson Terry Gou said that the investment in India would provide “at least 1 million jobs by 2020, maybe more.”

Furthermore, Gou, who led a delegation of 60 senior Hon Hai executives on a visit to India last week, said that the jobs will include positions for skilled workers and engineers. In other words, increasing employment opportunities in India is foreseeable.

Last but not the least, the company remains wary of insufficient power and water supplies in India, while the country needs more skilled workers, Gou said.
