Macronix Conservative About H2, Optimistic about Flash Business

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Macronix, a Taiwanese Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) provider, held investor conference yesterday, announced the second quarter net revenues of NT$4,975 million (US$161.9 million), a 6% increase sequentially and a 0.1% increase year- over-year.

Prospecting to the third quarter of this year, Macronix tended to be conservative, said that current semiconductor market perception is not in a good shape, but the company was optimistic about the growing momentum of its SLC NAND Flash products.
Regard of the ROM business, Macronix said, 32-nm 16GB product has went mass production in the second quarter of this year; NOR Flash business, 75-nm wide-range Vcc 1 ~ 64MB, a wearable and IoT applications suitable solution, was sending samples in the second quarter; 55-nm serial 3V 256 / 512MB products have send samples to automotive customers.
Macronix noted that demands of high-density products continues to increase, that will help company’s revenue to grow.
Macronix General Manager Chih-Yuan Lu, said, the proportion of automotive and industrial products in the NOR Flash revenue in the second quarter, has reached 19%, 35% increased from the previous quarter, 60% YoY.
As for the NAND Flash business, Macronix will focus on SLC products, its 36-nm 3V 1GB product has delivered samples in the second quarter. And Macronix expected its revenue of NAND Flash business is going to climb rapidly quarter by quarter.
