TAIPEI, Taiwan - Asus confirmed yesterday that the company has contracted with Foxconn to produce smartphone in India and the first shipment of Zenfone which made in India will be released on August.

Asus CEO Jerry Shen confirmed that Asus and Foxconn have signed the OEM contract to produce ZenFone 2 which equipped with Qualcomm processor chip in India, and the production capacity will be 200,000 per month at early stage. The first shipment of India-made ZenFone will be on August. In the future, they will release MediaTek chip equipped version.
Asus raises its India’s shipment target to make it become the second largest markets behind Taiwan, said by Jerry Shen.
“I will stay longer in India”, said by Jerry Shen.
Analysts estimate that the orders from Asus could account for 3 million units of Foxconn’s shipment this year.
