ASUS Lowers Its Smartphone Shipments Forecast to 21 Million units

TAIPEI, Taiwan - ASUS revised down its 2015 smartphones shipments forecast to around 20 million to 21 million units, narrowed its previous prediction of 17 million units to 25 million units shipments. Asus said that the adjustment was merely narrow the range, not revised down.

ASUS explained, the revised number was still under the original prediction of 17 million to 25 million units, is more precise adjustments.

Although the shipments forecast has been revised, but the sales of Asus’ smartphones remains brisk. Asus smartphone department has already turned around and began contribution profit. In addition, ZenFone sales in India is fiery, ASUS is expected to open its first exclusive shop in India in the fourth quarter of this year or first quarter of next year.

Currently, India has become an important market for Asus. Chairman Johnny Shih said earlier that the company is going to expand its sale spots, manufacture laptops and set up exclusive shop in India, to lead Asus to become top four technology company in India.

Recently, ASUS has signed an OEM agreement with Foxconn to produce 0.2 million units of ZenFone. But the company also said that there will not be only one OEM partner in India, and the production line will not only smartphones, which will be extended to notebooks.
