MediaTek Inc., the nation’s largest handset chip designer, on October 5 said it has secured 65.73 million shares of Richtek Technology Corp., exceeding the minimum requirement of 51.98 million shares to take over the power management chipmaker.
However, the transaction is to be completed tomorrow via its subsidiary, according to the company’s filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange. Meanwhile, MediaTek last month said that it made a tender offer to buy Richtek for about NT$28.96 billion in cash in two stages.
Richtek Technology is one of the world’s leading analog IC companies. The company consistently delivers inventive power management solutions that improve the performance of consumer electronics, computers, and communications equipment. Richtek adds value to end equipment by synthesizing technological innovation, uncompromised quality, and devotion to customer service.
In addition, MediaTek announced early this month it has released two software development kits (SDKs) that support Apple HomeKit. Apple HomeKit is a framework built into iOS that enables secure home control from iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Apple Watch and lets home accessories work together in smart ways.
