China and AMD Form Chips Assembly & Testing Joint Venture

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Chinese Nantong Fujitsu Microelectronics Co., Ltd. announced the acquisition of two Advanced Micro Devices(AMD)foundries located in Suzhou and Penang, Malaysia, paying for $370 million. They will finish the transaction in the first half of 2016 and create a joint venture of semiconductor assembly and test.

Both AMD Suzhou and AMD Export Sdn.Bhd. are engaged in high-end IC assembly and test facilities. Their leading products include CPU, GPU, APU and Gaming Console Chip. The assembly process solutions are FCBGA, FCPGA, FCLGA and MCM. The advanced assembly products account for 100 percent of all products.
The joint venture will be the AMD primary supplier to keep providing high-quality advanced semiconductor assembly and test service. Meanwhile, the joint venture will take all advantages of AMD’s production, technology and quality management system to serve their customers with scale and personalized service.
