Unigroup Willing to Work with MTK for Overpower Qualcomm

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Tsinghua Unigroup has no plan to enter into DRAM industry and intend to cooperate with MediaTek, Tsinghua Unigroup President Zhou Weigu said in an interview with Taiwan’s media.

Economic Daily ran a report that Tsinghua Unigroup will aim at NAND Flash business and has no intention to explore DRAM industry or invest Taiwan’s DRAM company.
In addition, Zhou also said that the cross-strait cooperation will be the win-win strategy for semiconductor industry, however, has been intervened by too much Taiwn’s official constraints.
“If Taiwan authority is willing to release regulation, I will immediately make an appointment with MediaTek Chairman Ming-Kai Tsai to push through the consolidation among Tsinghua Unigroup –based Spreadtrum, RDA Microelectronics and MediaTek to displace Qualcomm ” added by Zhou.
Zhou stressed that globalization is the strategy for Tsinghua Unigroup to reach profitability without thinking about red supply chain or politics. The cooperation concept is on the basis of running business and industrial development to achieve most bilateral benefit.
