The report pointed out that Asus is the second largest ranking smart phone company in Malaysia and second only to Samsung. Asus’ mobile phone sales look promising, and they are already cooperating with the largest Malaysian telecommunications providers, Maxis and Digi.
According to Asus’ observations, Malaysia has a yearly smart phone demand of 8 million units with a high degree of brand concentration. Consequently, telecommunications providers are accustomed to collaborating with Apple and Samsung. However, with the current rise of emerging brands, telecommunications providers have begun to collaborate with new partners.
Asus has experienced a rapid growth in smart phone sales this year, and in addition to the local market in Taiwan, they have also experienced rapid growth in other Asian regions, such as India and Malaysia.
Asus anticipates reaching a shipment volume of 30 million units in 2016, which will be a yearly growth of 46%. Emerging Asian markets, such as Malaysia and India will be key to next year’s increased sales growth. In India Asus is collaborating with Hon Hai to manufacture smart phones, and they are expecting to reach a market share of over 20% in Malaysia.
