Taiwan’s Gaming Industry Rapidly Rising

TAIPEI, Taiwan - In Taiwan the gaming industry is undergoing rapid development. Currently “Taipei Game Show 2016, TGS” is being held, and it has the largest scope since it was first held 14 years ago. With nearly 2,000 exhibition booths and 450,000 visitors, it has already become the exhibition with the largest number of participants in Taiwan.

Taiwan Computer Association Director General and Pegatron Corporation CEO T.H. Tung stated that the gaming industries’ output is set to exceed the output value of notebook computers.
He pointed out that the current global gaming output has already reached NT$ 91.5 billion. New modes of entertainment have created new market scopes, and new employment opportunities and also driven basic technological progress. Hence, the global gaming industry output is expected to reach US$113.3 billion during the next two years.
International companies such as SONY, HTC, GooglePlay, and Samsung participated in this year’s Taipei Game Show. Sony Taiwan, which participated in the Taipei Game Show for the first time this year, exhibited products in collaboration with Sony Computer Entertainment Taiwan (SCET) and set up a live high resolution sound quality and Walkman listening area for Sony products.
In addition, virtual reality technology received a lot of public attention and was an exhibition highlight at TGS 2016. HTC, SONY, Google, and Samsung all exhibited their new VR technologies. HTC exhibited the HTC Vive PRE for the first time in Taiwan, and Sony announced the first PlayStation VR game “Oh! My Genesis.” Meanwhile, Samsung’s Gear VR and Google Cardboard were also on display at the exhibition.
