Macronix to Replace Cypress as Global NOR Flash Leader

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwanese memory manufacturer Macronix International Co., Ltd last week at an investor conference stated that their NOR Flash market share has experienced rapid growth during the second half of the year, and they are confident that by the end of the year they will surpass Cypress to become the global leader.

For NOR Flash, Macronix last quarter held a global market share of 22%, which is second only to Crypress’ 23% market share.
Macronix President Dr. Chih-Yuan Lu stated that their main goal is to be a global tier depot and that they will upgrade their manufacturing to 48nm this year. Currently the company’s order to shipment ratio (B/B value) was already 0.99 in April and rose to 1.33 in June. Dr. Chih-Yuan Lu emphasized that with the continual stability of Macronix’s market share, he is confident that they will take the top spot in global market share at the end of the year.
In addition to NOR Flash, Macronix also anticipates experiencing similar growth in ROM and NAND Flash in the third quarter of this year.
