TSMC said that the company takes no account of establishing any factories in the United States unless facing the shortage of water, electricity and manpower in Taiwan. In addition, to base oversea has to be approved by the shareholders of TSMC.
TSMC pointed out that they didn’t see any needs of setting up wafer factory in the United States, because the US government may not ask the chip and component suppliers of smartphones to make their products in the United States, which will lead US consumers to buy more expensive mobile phones compare with other countries.
