Taiwan Forms IoT Technology and Industry Association

TAIPEI, Taiwan - More than twenty Taiwanese companies and ten related associations together with research units on December 20 established Taiwan IoT Technology and Industry Association (TW.IOTA) to assist in the development of standards and specifications for Internet of Things related applications.

The participating companies include semiconductor, communications, systems integrations and service providers. The first elected President, Powerchip Technology Corporation Founder and CEO Frank Huang pointed out that integration is is the key to Taiwan's mastering the IoT trend, and in the future there should be more involvement in related industry standards and specifications in order to expand Taiwan's influence on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and internationally.
Frank Huang also stated that IoT will bring about countless opportunities and that Taiwan has the advantage of having outstanding and complete supply chains that range from semiconductors to systems. The supply chains also have a high degree of flexibility which will assist Taiwan in grasping IoT business opportunities.
Ministry of Economic Affairs Deputy Minister Jong-Chin Shen commented that IoT is prioritized as the most important development trend for a number of countries, and through the “Asian Silicon Valley” project, the government will take aim at each link of IoT innovation, technological research and development, industrial supply chain formation, and applications testing to assist in the development of the industry.
