For years, Taiwan’s auto parts have been globally known for their high quality and innovation. 90% of Taiwan’s auto parts output is for export. In 2016, export value of Taiwanese auto parts was around US $6.93 billion. Major export markets are the US, Japan, China, UK, Australia, Mexico, Canada, and Germany, among which the US is the largest exporting market for Taiwan, occupying 43.5% of Taiwan’s total export amount. Well-known for its tight central-satellite factory system, high production flexibility, fast development time, and highly customized service, Taiwan has been a reliable partner for many car brands and automotive aftermarket distributors.
Taiwan’s main export products are aftermarket parts and accessories, such as lamps, bumpers, rearview mirrors, wheels and rims, interior and exterior plastic parts, collision parts and tires. Approximately 80% of Taiwan exports go to the global aftermarket, making Taiwan one of the most important supply bases for AM replacement auto parts.
Taiwan’s auto lamps production value is highest in the world, occupying 60%-70% of the global auto lamp aftermarket. Taiwan’s collision parts value is also a global pinnacle, with its rubber & plastics parts capturing 70% of the global market, and auto metal plates securing 35% of the global market.
