TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwanese display panel manufacturer Innolux Corporation has developed Deep Sensing Technology (DST) through the use of a specialized electrode design which can even be used to operate tablet screens for sterilized gloves or thick mitts. This technology can also be utilized to carry out depth sensing and has won a Hsinchu Science Park innovative product award.

Innolux Corporation explained that DST technology can simulate 3D multi-finger and multi-touch pressure sensing. Integrating the dual advantages of capacitive touch and resistance, it efficiently surpasses 2D touch identification.
Chu-Hsiang Yang, VP & GM of aII Products at Innolux Corporation stated that Innolux's DST technology rewrites the interface for human-computer interaction. Furthermore, it is not only lighter and thinner, but also provides five levels of touch sensitivity.
Chu-Hsiang Yang also pointed out that a key feature of this technology, which is the first of its kind globally, includes “multi-finger 3D sensing.” This is a breakthrough from the limits of previous one-finger sensing and can simultaneously support deep multi-point 3D touch.
Through the use of a specialize inner glass electrode design, Innolux's “multi-finger 3D touch” DST technology has the capacity to detect differences in capacitance due to deformation under touch. It can also be utilized to carry out press location and depth identification.
Compared to traditional flat plane locating through depth simulation of touch pressure timing, it has the capacity to dramatically increase intuitive accuracy and operational efficiency.
