Siemens Assists Taoyuan City in Creating an Advanced Smart MRT System

TAIPEI, Taiwan - A construction team consisting of Siemens Limited Taiwan, Hyundai Rotem Company, and BES Engineering Corporation has successfully been awarded a contract for the Taoyuan MRT EMS System and will assist Taoyuan City Government in creating the most advanced smart MRT system in Taiwan.

Siemen’s advanced rail transport technology will be utilized on the Green Line of the Taoyuan MRT. This technology includes the Trainguard MT signal train control system and train traction system, a DC traction power supply system, and a smart MRT signage system. These MRT systems will reach Grades of Automation 4 (GOA4) level of fully automatic driverless mode.

Taoyuan MRT Green Line will be 27.8km in length with 21 MRT stations, and 12.5km of this distance will be underground, while the other 15.3km of the MRT line will be an elevated. Taoyuan MRT Green Line will connect with the Taoyuan Airport MRT and is planned to extend to an additional three stations in Daxi and seven stations in Zhongli. The line will also connect Taoyuan Aerotropolis with Zhongli and other core urban areas in Taoyuan Metropolitan Area to form a comprehensive MRT network.
