In October 2018, the number of new employee registrations in “manufacturing industries” was 43,910, which was an 8.92% increase from September, making it the leading industry in terms of growth in the number of employees. Furthermore, due to heavy demand for automated equipment, “mechanical equipment manufacturing” experienced the most significant growth.

The Ministry of Labor stated the “mechanical equipment manufacturing industry” registered 4,583 new employees, which was a 30.72% increase over the number of employees in September and an 11.81% increase over the same period last year. Furthermore, the employment deficit in this industry reached an eight year high in October. Currently, there is a 25.42% employment deficit in the mechanical equipment manufacturing industry in Taichung City, followed by Kaohsiung City with a 15.71% deficit.

In terms of occupational categories, employment deficits in industries related to mechanical equipment manufacturing are all in a state of emergency. For instance, the demand for “other process control technicians,” “mechanical assembly personnel,” and “mechanical engineers” are over three times the supply ratio with related manufacturers offering high salaries in order to recruit talent.
