Wistron, Purdue to Co-develop Distributed System for Smart Factory

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Wistron, a Taiwanese information and communications products provider, announced that the company signed a cooperation program with Purdue University. According to Wistron, the two will collaborate on open edge-computing and smart manufacturing related applications, and co-develop distributed processing system for smart factory platform.

Wistron and Purdue University started the dialog in 2021. After a deep discussion on program direction and executing content, the two reached a consensus and signed a Letter of Intent. Meanwhile, Wistron is going to invest R&D funds and manpower with Purdue University to promote new studies on the next generation of an edge computing platform in the next three years under the work frame.

According to Wistron's plan, this cooperation will not only implement the research results in the development of Wistron's new business, but also recruit local professional scientific and technological talents to establish a Wistron R&D team. At the same time, two or three scholarships will be provided to Taiwanese students studying at Purdue to participate in this research project.
