To factory supervisors, it becomes a central topic of management how to help junior engineers who came from different schools and professional backgrounds to get into work soon and learn professional skills.

In the current semiconductor factory, each department has to educate their new engineers about fundamental knowledge using OJT(On the Job Training) and opportunity learning to learn related skills. UMC academy practical class has advanced the new engineers' training with standardization, systemization, and implementation. It centralizes new engineers to study with practical work and be examined to ensure they can learn professional techniques and confidence that meet the needs of work.

Jian Shan-jie, general manager of UMC, presided over the opening ceremony and said: "In response to the company's continuous production expansion, with the new equipment installed, the demand for high-quality equipment engineers is increasing. I am very pleased to see the establishment of the equipment academy, and I look forward to its rapid expansion to the all factories of UMC. Because machine equipment is the cornerstone of semiconductor production, is a crucial part of the company's operations. I would also like to thank the third-party manufacturers for providing immediate and necessary support for teaching equipment and teaching aids."
