TAIPEI, Taiwan — MediaTek is going to hold a 4G Octa-core chipset, MT6595 seminar on July 1st in Shenzhen, it is believed that MediaTek is going to announce its CorePilot and 4G network technology. The price of 4G smartphone in China leads to a cut-throat war, as MT6595 to be put in mass production, the 4G smartphone price war would be more competitve.

Experts suggest that in the past three years, the price of MediaTek's smartphone chipset didn't go up that much, for example, MediaTek's single-core chipset costs $10 dollars, its octa-core chipset, which would be the growth driver costs less than $30 dollars.

Other experts stated that many branded or white-box smartphone firms are waiting for MT6595, for its price is comparatively cheaper than that of Qualcomm. And MediaTek would copy the sales model they succeed in 3G.

According to MediaTek, MT6595 is going to support CAT4 version, LTE network, 5-mode and multi-band. Carrying CorePilot technology that means high-performance big core and power-saving small core are intercoordinating with each other.

Designed for the super-mid market, MediaTek MT6595 is based on the ARM “big.LITTLE” architecture, with four high-performance Cortex-A17 and four energy efficient Cortex-A7 processors. Mediatek CorePilot heterogeneous multiprocessing technology unlocks the full power of all eight processors for outstanding performance with ultra-low power consumption.

Release 9, Category 4 dual-mode LTE provides worldwide 4G-network compatibility and MT6595 also features a 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA) display controller and a 20-megapixel image signal-processor for high-quality smartphone digital camera applications. Comprehensive wireless connectivity includes with 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and multi-system GNSS, and ANT+ for ultra-lower power wireless fitness-tracking devices.
