TI Collaborates with Taiwanese Firms on IoV Driver Platform

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Texas Instruments (TI) and The Automotive Research & Testing Center (ATRC) at Taiwan Network Information Center have jointly established “The Next Generation Internet of Vehicles Driver Platform Research and Development Alliance,” which integrates Taiwanese enterprises, such as CMC Motor, Young Optics, Autoequips, and MCLOUDWARE TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD. to collaborate on the development of a new high-tech driver’s compartment control system.

The newly-established “Next Generation Internet of Vehicles Driver Platform Research and Development Alliance” is devoted to developing and providing the following four new, modern and high-tech advanced driver’s technologies: “Digital 3D Dashboard,” “Multi-Screen Control Display,” “Virtual Look Up Display,” and “3D Image Security.”

Texas Instruments Taiwan Regional General Manager Li Yuan-rong stated that Texas Instruments is optimistic that the Internet of Vehicles market will quickly take off. According to an investigative report by the market research agency, Gartner, this year vehicles will become the fastest growing domain for Internet of Things devices.

He estimates that the global number of Internet of Vehicles devices could reach 3.5 billion units in 2020.
