PIDA pointed out that observing the period from 2015Q1 to 2016Q2 on a quarterly basis, the production value of Taiwan’s LCD panel manufacturing industry in 2016Q2 was NT$164,135,000,000; whereas its production value in 2016Q1 was NT$144,109,000,000, representing a 14% quarterly growth. However, compared to the same period in 2015Q2, the output of Taiwan’s LCD panel manufacturing industry was NT$205,141,000,000, representing a 20% yearly decline.

With half a year as a benchmark, PIDA is observing development trends for Taiwan’s LCD panel industry for the rest 2016. During the first half of the year 2016, Taiwan’s LCD panel industry output was NT$308,244,000,000. Compared with the output of NT$380,504,000 in the second half of 2015, there was a 19% decline. Furthermore, compared to the NT$422,274,000,000 output in the first half of 2015, there was a 27% decline in the half-year output value.

PIDA stated that although in the second half of this year, the industry will benefit from orders received due to South Korean plant shutdowns, leading to full Taiwanese production lines in Q4, with the full development of every Mainland Chinese company’s production line output, their global market share will increase significantly, and in the end Mainland China will become the leading global panel manufacturer.
