Twitter May Cooperate with Taiwanese Firms Manufacturing Its Own Data Center

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Twitter, a worldwide famous social network, will probably order its cloud server here in Taiwan that benifit many Taiwanese OEM/ODM firms, including Quanta, Wistron, Mitac International Corp., Inventec, and Foxconn.

Chief Technology Officer of Twitter visits Taiwan in this week, during the five-day trip, meeting with lots of Taiwanese server OEM/ODM firms. Though the officer's schdule isnt' public, according to the supply chain that this year Twitter has changed its acquisition strategy.
In the past, Twitter buys servers from Dell and Hewlett-Packard. Now planning to buy servers from OEM/ODM directly.
However, Taiwanese server firms have been struggling to get chances to cooperate with international network service provider, selling hardware to customers directly.
Lately, Facebook has opened its server standard to users, the first Open ComputeProject (OCT) has established in Taiwan, its initiative aimed at openly sharing designs of data center products, experts and members of the project.
