TSMC Raises Its Foundry Annual Growth Rate to 14%

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Mark Liu, President and co-CEO of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.(TSMC), said on investor conference that TSMC has raised forecast annual growth of semiconductor and IC design, wafer foundry production value , where the foundry annual rate of increase 14%, and TSMC will exceed the industry average.

TSMC held investor conference today, Morris did not attend, hand over to co-CEO Mark Liu and C.C. Wei. Mark Liu announced that TSMC has modified the annual forecast, the semiconductor industry forecast annual growth rate increased from 5% to 7% , while the annual growth of Fabless and IC design value from 8 % to 9% , and a substantial increase from the 10% to 14% of foundry annual growth rate.

Mark Liu pointed out that the shipments of smart phones and other terminal devices were higher than previous quarter, with strong customer demand, TSMC is very optimistic about the second quarter, while full- year growth rate will exceed the industry average.

C.C. Wei said that the advanced manufacturing process of TSMC is hardly to replicate by competitors, and there is a significant high threshold. The speed of production capacity of 20nm is the fastest in the history of TSMC, and 28nm production went into the fourth years, TSMC will continue to increase the number of 28nm applications.
