TAIPEI, Taiwan- According to Taiwan media reports, following the high number of Acer and Asus notebook computers hitting the market and the launch of a second-wave replacement boom, for these companies, which are already ranked among the top five global brands, there will be opportunities in October to increase their market shares and be ranked as the world’s top two and four PC vendors.

Analysts point out that during the first-wave replacement boom, approximately 78 million PCs were replaced around the world, and it was primarily driven by commercial purchases and government procurements that were delayed last year. Development was primarily in countries in the western European and North American regions.

In the second-wave replacement boom, emerging markets have picked up the baton, and both accumulated disposable assets for local consumers and demand for replacements have continued to increase. It is estimated that beginning in October of this year there will be heavy expenditures on massive replacements.

ASUS CEO Shen Zhen-lai states that from late September to early October, new products will be launched with Microsoft and Intel, along with their new “Chi” product.

Acer, meanwhile, will continue to launch the 15-inch and 17-inch Aspire V Nitro notebook computers during this season in selected countries in Europe and Asia. These launches will begin in Europe and gradually be expanded into burgeoning Asian markets.

Analysts point out that the end of Windows XP support has driven demand for replacement PCs, and with the entrance of Windows 9 products to the market next year, this wave of the replacement trend will continue into late 2015 and 2016.
