TAIPEI, Taiwan — Does iPhone 6 do good to Taiwan economic? According to TrendForce, because Taiwan's flagship iPhone assembler, Hon Hai Precision, makes the handsets at factories in China, that side of production brings few salary or employment benefits to Taiwan. However, Wistron's LCD Module (LCM) has become a part of iPhone 6 suppliers, which will change its LCM profit.

Meahwhile, Just $25 to $30 from the total $245 to $255 manufacturing bill of materials from each ordinary iPhone 6 handset will reach Taiwanese firms, analysts at the Market Intelligence and Consulting (MIC) Institute in Taiwan estimated this month.

According to Forbes, of that portion, $22 per phone would go to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (TSMC) for chips and around $3 to smartphone camera lens developer Largan Precision.

Forbes reported that TSMC, the sagacious world's largest contract chipmaker, had retooled its factories two or three years ago to accommodate future iPhone chips, says Wilson Miao, an independent Taipei-based smartphone market analyst. These cases reinforce fears that Taiwan, though once a formidable world tech hardware hub, is being hollowed out by China.

Taiwanese companies assembling the new iPhone may include Hon Hai, Pegatron, and Wistron. Hon Hai, also known as Foxconn, is likely to be the biggest beneficiary, with 65 percent of the orders for the smaller phone and nearly all the orders for the larger one, according to Yuanta Financial.

However, Wistron's LCD Module (LCM) has become a part of iPhone 6 suppliers, which will change its LCM profit.
