TSMC's Market Share is Going to Reach 53% in 2014

TAIPEI, Taiwan — At TSMC SCM 2014, the company's Co-Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mark Liu said that its market share is going to reach 53 percent in 2014, jumping from 49 percent that of last year. Talking about the semiconductor market, He forecast the year-of-year growth rate is at around 5, and the foundry is at around 12 percent.

Mark Liu pointed out that the semiconductor value grew 9 percent in this year, and it will be 8 percent if excluded the memory. System companies' value grew 14 percent, IC design 9 percent, foundry 14 percent.

Regarding the advanced process, Mark Liu emphasized that its 20nm process is doing well, which will rank 20 percent of the company's revenue by the end of this year, with the doubled shipment. And the 16nm so far has 11 tapeouts, and it will be 60 tapeouts by the end of 2015.

Mark Liu also suggested their 10nm process will have tapeouts at the fourth quarter of 2015, which will be put into limited production in 2015 and into volume production in 2016.
