TSMC Ranks Third in 2014 Top 50 Semiconductor Suppliers

TAIPEI, Taiwan - According to a South Korean news reported, citing IC Insights’ report, Intel stood the first place of the world's top 50 semiconductor suppliers; Samsung Electronics had the second place; Taiwan TSMC ranked No. 3, but the revenue growth rate topped the leading ten; Qualcomm, Micron Elpida and SK Hynix listed the fourth to sixth place.

The news showed that the No. 1 ranked Intel with revenue of US$ 51.3 billion in 2014, growth of 6%; the second, Samsung semiconductor’s revenue reached US$ 37.2 billion, growth of 8%; No. 3, TSMC’s revenue reached US$ 24.9 billion, growth of 25%, the biggest increase of the Top 10 companies.
In addition, Apple entered the Top 50 for the first time, revenue reachedUS $ 1.46 billion, ranked 44th. But Apple's chip was not produced by itself, but entrusted to TSMC.
In term of revenue growth rate, China Hisilicon was the fastest growing companies of 53%; SK Hynix of 22%, ranked seventh.
